This is a private reference site, not a government office. It cannot confirm custody, release an inmate, post bond, schedule visits, pull official booking records, or change court information.
Where to Look First
Official questions must go to the agency that keeps the record. For WVDCR regional jail, prison, parole, and supervision records, use the West Virginia Division of Corrections and Rehabilitation. The central office listed by WVDCR is 1409 Greenbrier Street, Charleston, WV 25311, phone (304) 558-2036. The agency contact page also provides general and media inquiry forms.
- County jail custody: start with the County Directory and WVDCR regional jail search.
- Sentenced state prisoner: use the WVDCR inmate population page and official locator.
- Booking photos: review jail rosters and mugshots and contact the custodian.
- Charges after arrest: use court records after arrest and the appropriate clerk.
- Facility-specific questions: use the Facility Directory.
- Federal or immigration custody: use BOP or ICE, not WVDCR.
Records Requests
West Virginia FOIA requests go to the custodian of the record and must describe the requested record with reasonable specificity. WVDCR may hold inmate records. Sheriffs or police departments may hold arrest reports. Courts hold case records. BOP and ICE are federal systems with their own records processes.
